As I write this it has been exactly eight weeks since we closed for business at our old location and four weeks since we took possession of our new property. It seems like an eternity but in the 98 year history and five locations of St. Albans Moose Lodge it is merely the blink of an eye. In those four weeks we have worked tirelessly to transform our new home into a lodge we can all be proud of. Our volunteers, and members from other lodges have given generously of their time and substance in support of this major renovation. I am thankful for their support and your patience.
Unfortunately, due to the bureaucratic red tape of our state agencies we are still waiting for our final inspections, permits and license. We had hoped this could be accomplished in a few short weeks. Although we have been in business for nearly a century, in the eyes f the state we are a new entity. Therefore it is with a heavy heart that we must move our grand opening to Saturday, August 29th. We will be open for business the day we receive our new license and will notify everyone by phone, text, email, Facebook and on our website. I am not going to speculate when that might be but I hope everyone will join with us in praying for a speedy conclusion to this process.
I will not dignify the many rumors being spread. If you have a genuine concern or question pick up the phone and call me or stop in anytime and see for yourself all the hard work being done. I, along with your board of officers, can assure you that we continue to work diligently toward the future and are signing new members daily in anticipation of our new lodge opening. This has been no small feat. It has been a great leap of faith and we have worked too hard and come too far to let a couple of more weeks deter us from our path.
There are still some minor projects that need to be accomplished and we can always use your help. We are accepting donations of filled backpacks at the lodge for our WV Moose Association community service event. Please help us make this a great success.
Fraternally, Mike Brown
