Moose International's campaign for 2015-16 is "Build Our Foundation". That is exactly what St. Albans Moose Lodge is doing, building a new foundation. I have always looked at St. Albans Lodge as the little lodge that could. Located between Nitro and Charleston lodges, what were once the power houses of the fraternity, we have always managed to hold our own. We have faced and overcome every obstacle and met every challenge and request placed before us. We now have an amazing opportunity to start over, to build a new lodge and membership base. Our new property and building have incredible potential and are very well suited for our needs.
I know there are many concerns about when we will reopen and why it is taking so long. The sale of our property and purchase of the new property is a million dollar deal. It is the Boards responsibility, to you the members, to ensure that every care and precaution is taken to protect the future of this lodge and its financial position. It is a responsibility we take very seriously and a process that cannot be rushed. Our goal from the beginning was to purchase a new property and be debt free and we have accomplished that. Debt free is the very best financial position to be in. It will allow us to offer new member benefits, provide consistent good entertainment and new activities and functions. Regardless of all the rumors and naysayers this is a wonderful and rare opportunity for a new beginning.
We expect to be open by July 15th with our official grand opening on Saturday, August 1st. Please bear with us and I assure you it will have been worth the wait. St. Albans Moose lodge on the river will be the place to go. Our plans for improvement are already in place and will begin the day we take possession of the property.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped with the daunting task of cleaning, packing and moving our lodge. Your support and hard work are greatly appreciated. I look forward to seeing you all in our new lodge.
Fraternally, Mike Brown
